AllSync Scheduler Tasks

A task is comprised of all the settings required for automatically running one or more profiles. The settings can be accessed via the Edit button.

Schedule – Startup Mode

Once

The task is run once at a specified date and time.

Interval

The task is run daily at regular intervals starting at the time specified and continuing until a specified end time.

Daily

The task is run every day at a specified time.

Weekly

The task is run at a specified time on various days of the week.

Monthly

The task is run at a specified time on various days of the month.

When starting Windows

This startup mode causes the task to be started when the user logs on to Windows. Don't forget to activate the general AllSync Scheduler option Automatically start and activate AllSync Scheduler when starting Windows. You can suspend starting the task by keeping the CTRL key pressed when starting AllSync Scheduler.

Notes pertaining to AllSync Scheduler Service:

When using AllSync Scheduler Service the task is started when starting Windows. No user logon to Windows is required. Use the Tolerance option to specify the maximum start time of your Windows system. The task is not started unless AllSync Scheduler Service is started within the specified tolerance period.

When exiting Windows

This startup mode enables a task to be started when performing the following actions:
  1. Log off user
  2. Restart / shut down Windows
  3. Standby / hibernate
At the scheduler options you can define what rules will be performed for every action.

NOTES:
  • This startup mode has no effect when AllSync Scheduler is started as a service.
  • The actions "Standby / hibernate" are only available at Windows 2000/XP/2003. Windows Vista or higher don't support canceling this actions.
  • You can suspend starting the task by keeping the CTRL key pressed when shutting the Windows session down.
  • When running a task a dialog window is displayed by Windows; it can normally be ignored. When encountering problems with the Windows dialog, use the AllSync Scheduler startup mode option Increase waiting time until displaying the Windows shutdown dialog.

Link

This startup mode causes a check to be conducted to determine whether a link has been newly established to the specified data source and whether the task has been successfully started. The data source is detected anew if it wasn't yet present during the previous check.

Monitoring

This startup mode causes a check to be conducted of the data source for changes and the task to be started when the specified number of changes has been reached. Checks can be conducted for the following changes:
  1. Renaming, creation and deletion of files
  2. Renaming, creation and deletion of folders
  3. Attributes of files and folders
  4. File size
  5. File modified date
  6. Access permissions of files and folders
Monitoring for changes can be optionally activated for all subfolders of a data source. Monitoring can also be stopped when starting a task and then resumed after the task completes.

The Interval property enables you to specify that a pause of a minimum length is to be adhered to upon the conclusion of a task until the task can be restarted.

Note:
  1. In order for a data source to be monitored in the network, the user of AllSync Scheduler must be a member of the Backup Operators group. See Computer Management – System Tools – Local Users and Groups – Groups – Backup Operators – Add to Group.
  2. The task is automatically deactivated if the specified data source is not found after 5 attempts.

Options

Upon Task Startup

Do not start task unless this folder is accessible
This option prevents a task from being run unless the specified folder is accessible when the task is started.
Start task immediately when last performed more than X days ago
This option causes a task to be started immediately upon activating AllSync Scheduler if the last time the task was started precedes a specified number of days ago.
Automatically remove entries from log file when they are more than ... day(s) old
This option causes the log file to be checked every time the task is started and all entries to be removed when they are older than the number of days specified here.
User must confirm task start
This option shows up a message box before the task will be started.
Wait this number of seconds before starting the profiles
This option enables you to specify a delay period before the copy operation of the profiles will be started.

While Task Running

Don't show File Conflict dialog
This option causes the File Conflict dialog not to be displayed.

Upon Task Completion

Show info message after the task has completed
This option shows up a message box after the task has completed. AllSync uses the system command MSG (ex: Windows Vista) and the system command NET SEND (ex: Windows 2000/XP).
Upon completing processing of task
This enables you to specify which action is to be performed when the processing of a task has completed:
  • Shut down computer

  • Restart Windows
  • Log off user
  • Standby
  • Hibernate
  • Shut down AllSync Scheduler
  • Lock computer

Run Period

This option enables the period to be specified during which the task may be started. The settings of this option take precedence over AllSync Scheduler's general option Run Period. Any tasks still running outside of the run period can be automatically terminated.

Email

Don't send log to the email addresses indicated in AllSync Scheduler's options

This option enables you to suspend sending the email to the email addresses in AllSync Scheduler's general options.

Send log to these addresses

This option causes the log of all the profiles run of a task to be sent to the specified email address(es). If there is more than one address, they have to be separated by a comma. No emails can be sent unless you make all the settings for the mail server in the Email section of AllSync Scheduler's options.

When the email is to be sent:

The following settings are possible:
  • Always
  • Only when an error occurs
  • Only when changes occur
  • Only when errors and changes occur
  • Only when an error or a change occurs

Email logged actions of a profile

Activating this option causes the actions logged during the copy operation to be emailed. This option doesn't have any effect unless the Log these actions during a copy operation option is activated (Profile Properties – Options – Log).

Forward log of each individual profile via email

When this option is activated, the log of each individual profile is forwarded via email.
